Program Overview
Five monthly 5 KM run events (June-October) that provide all types of runners (experienced, novice, new, those who are looking to try running) a reason to get out, be active, and discover the beautiful and accessible running routes in York region while connecting with other 2SLGTBQ+ runners and allies. Proud Runners will occur every second Saturday of each month. After each run, a post-social will take place at a local cafe, bakery or business near the end of the run. The Inaugural Proud Run will be on Saturday, June 1, 2024.
Goals
Encourage members of our community to be proud of themselves for trying to be active regardless of their shape, physical capabilities and fitness
Promote an active lifestyle through running
Connect 2SLGTBQ+ runners within York Region
Build a 2SLGTBQ+ running community within the Region
Promote running routes and trails within York Region
Highlight local businesses that support our community
Run Logistics
There will be run pacers* for each type of runner.
Fast (4:45-5:15 pace)
Easy (5:15-6:00 pace)
Leisure, run/walk (6:00 and up)
Everyone starts at the same time
The running route will be simple - out and back or with minimal turns
Route markers are provided if needed
Map provided in advance on the website, email and other platforms like social media and sports apps (Strava)
Directions for the route will be instructed before each run.

March with us at York Pride!
Gather with us as we march proudly down the York Pride Parade! Book work off and mark your calendars for Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 3:00 PM. We're meeting at Ontario Street West of Main Street at 2:00 PM. The parade route is 1 km long; afterward, enjoy Pride on Riverwalk until 10:00 PM.
